Sarah Trance, M.S., LMFT
I believe you have the power to feel deeply connected in your life, no matter what you’re up against.
Growing up in a very large, blended, Irish/Italian family, I understood from a young age both the impact and importance of relationships. I witnessed the love, conflict and hardship in marriage and divorce, parenting, sibling relationships, and the loss of loved ones, without realizing at the time what I was absorbing. Through the ups and downs, it became evident to me that deep connection was an innate need, necessary for happiness and survival. Relationships that truly matter are a lifeline.
Throughout my twenties, I struggled with anxiety. I was hustling toward my career, feeling over-worked and under-paid. I felt constant overwhelm in attempting to balance friendships and dating with adulthood, all while being away from family. I struggled to understand how to maintain meaningful relationships while also having a relationship with myself.
Part of my healing was realizing that I was allowed to do things differently; I didn’t have to live life with the same expectations that were set before me. When I embraced this truth, I was finally able to grow in a way that made meaningful changes in my life. That’s why I’m here to help you release unhealthy generational patterns and deeply connect with yourself and your loved ones in a way that works for you.
my approach : :
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I work from a:
relational frame: I’m especially focused on how relationships, both with yourself and others, affect your sense of self and roadblocks to connection.
systemic perspective: I strive to see clients from the system that they’re in, paying special attention to dynamics of power and privilege including race/ethnicity, gender [identity], sexual orientation, socioeconomic status and spirituality. I work to hold space and name how larger systems affect your overall wellbeing and view of the world.
emotionally focused lens: I organize and deepen the emotional experience in the present moment in order to alleviate unhealthy cycles that impact your ability to tune into yourself and your partner.
I feel deeply committed to helping all clients unlearn beliefs about themselves and their communities that keep them stuck in unhealthy patterns that no longer serve them.
As your therapist, I am here as a supportive process consultant. With that said, I’m going to challenge you. I believe that therapy is a journey which takes hard work. You are the expert of your life and with my knowledge and experience, we will work collaboratively to help you grow! Let’s dive in.
